About Deborah

I was born in Dublin, but have had the great fortune to be able to travel throughout my childhood. I got the opportunity to live in the culinary mecca of Belgium for five years, as well as various places in the United States including Chicago.

Whilst educationally my background includes opera singing and accounting, I have always had a love of food - as a quick glance at my hips will tell you. I started cooking in earnest about ten years ago and have enjoyed every minute since. I always relished in being able to entertain family and friends with homecooked meals or hors d'oeuvres.

When my first daughter was born I was working 40+ hours a week in the US. I still insisted on making all her baby food and having dinner on the table most nights. That's when I really began to see just how possible it is to do, despite restrictions on your time.

I did some catering in the US focusing mainly on parties and showers - making hors d'oeuvres, canapes and cocktails - with the occasional buffet style meal.

Since moving back to Ireland I have elected to stay at home with the children and have continued experimenting and honing my skills - especially when it comes to baking.

I run an award-winning
food blog that has been mentioned in two of Ireland's top food magazines - Intermezzo and Food and Wine and is currently shortlisted for the best blog category of the renouned Golden Spider Awards.  I aim to provide a variety of recipes for all walks of life.  From romantic dinners for two to full family roasts, you will find a suitable recipe on the blog.
